Aston Villa vs Stoke City
Premier League, England
Date: Saturday, 19 December, 2009
Stadium: Villa Park

Aston Villa are flying high after winning their third straight league games and they are definitely hot favourites to win this match. Stoke didn’t play last weekend as their game with Fulham was postponed, but even though the Potters will have had plenty of time to prepare for this match, they face an uphill task at Villa Park. Liverpool’s struggles allowed Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa to mount a serious top 4 challenge and it is the Villains that are leading the race after the serious of impressive performances. The home win over Hull was followed by impressive victories at Old Trafford and Stadium of Light and you don’t need us telling you the players are brimming with confidence at the moment. Martin O’Neill’s team keep scoring goals with ease, while they managed to keep three clean sheets, which is why we see a good value in backing . James Collins has recovered from injury and he could return to the starting line-up, although we are yet to see if the boss will decide to make any changes to the team that did so well in last three games. Villa have been playing really well since Heskey was restored to the starting line-up and Milner was moved to centre midfield to accommodate Stuart Downing, thus we could easily see an unchanged line-up for the fourth successive match, which would probably be some kind of a record. If the Villains continue playing like this, they will have a good chance to qualify for the Champions League through league finish and we see a good value in backing . Stoke are playing just enough not to enter the dangerous zone and they look destined for the mid table finish. They are slowly becoming an established Premier League side and that is something Tony Pulis wanted to do in the first place. The Potters were lucky to escape defeat at home to Wigan but they had plenty of time to prepare for this match and we expect them to up their game. The visitors will mainly be looking to keep things tight and prevent Villa from scoring, thus we can safely say they won’t be thinking too much about the opponent’s goal. Therefore, backing is the right thing to do. Tony Pulis was angry to see Robert Huth get suspended for picking up a fifth yellow card in the Wigan game, since he wasn’t allowed to contest the decision even though Jordi Gomez should have been flagged offside just before the German was booked. Nevertheless, the German will miss this match, just like injured Amdy Faye, but the good thing is these two are the only unavailable players at the moment. Aston Villa have been in excellent form lately and the players are brimming with confidence at the moment, which means they shouldn’t have too many problems beating Stoke. The Potters are a tough team to break but we still don’t think they can get something from this match. Results and goal’s highlights, will be available soon.. stay with us.
