Everton vs Birmingham City

Boosted by the good result against Chelsea, Everton enter this game searching for the first league win after five games. The Toffees now play host to high-flying Birmingham, whose win over Blackburn in midweek made it five wins from five games. Everton are sitting just one point clear of the relegation zone at the moment, albeit with a game in hand but they simply have to win this game and thus end the five-match winless run. That will not be easy since David Moyes still has almost whole team on the sidelines and it is for this reason that he fielded a bunch of youngsters in the Europa League game against Bate Borisov. Despite losing the game, the Toffees qualified for the next round but it is the Birmingham game where their focus will be on Sunday. We expect both sides to adopt a cautious approach in this game, at least in the first period and our advice is, therefore, to bet on . The injury worries continue to mount for David Moyes as one of just few senior players who took part in the Bate game, Jack Rodwell picked up an injury and he is definitely out of this match. The good thing is Tim Cahill returns after serving a suspension, thus the boss should be able to pick a decent side, especially since Leon Osman has returned into action after recovering from injury. Birmingham are the in-form Premiership side at the moment, having recorded five straight wins, which is a remarkable achievement for the side supposed to fight for survival. We did expect them to improve after the poor start but surely nobody could predict they would win five straight games. The confidence in the side is sky-high at the moment and we are pretty sure they will try to win this game as well. It is interesting that the Blues won most of these games by scoring a single goal, while they also usually fail to score when losing the game. This is why we are tempted to try with . There is one very interesting fact regarding the recent winning run since all five wins were achieved by using the same starting line-up. Alex McLeish is definitely the fan of the saying ‘never change a winning team’ and this is why we expect the same 11 players who started last five games to keep their places in the side. Seeing that Everton failed to win any of the last five games, while Birmingham won all of them, you could be tempted to back the visitors here. However, we wouldn’t recommend that and we see under 2.5 goals as a safer bet here, since neither team will be rushing into anything and we expect both managers to adopt a cautious approach. We will post information about results of this match.. stay with us.
