Last weekend Schalke ended the nine-game unbeaten run, when they suffered a minimum duel by M Gladbach. Hertha gave another unpleasant surprise to their fans, having suffered a convincing defeat by Frankfurt.In spite of the minimum defeat against the Colts, the Royal blue still kept the third place with five points behind leading Leverkusen. Coach Magath was quite disappointed after the vague display his men showed in the previous match and he announced drastic changes in the team. In the last five games against the Berlin side Schalke recorded four wins and the last time they lost to this opponent was in Gelsenkirchen over five years ago. Only in the first home game this season did Royal blue fail to score, while the rest of the games saw them score at least two goals. Having in mind that they are hosting the teams with worst goal margin in the league, seems tempting.Kevin Kuranyi has improved lately and he is team’s best scorer with six goals scored so far while in the last three derbies against Stuttgart, Hamburger and Leverkusen he scored at least one goal in each of the game. Former German international is in the best of form and he will definitely be the biggest threat for Hertha’s keeper and The team from the capital have gone last thirteen league games without winning and they deserved the rock-bottom position. Last weekend Hertha suffered another defeat at Olimpic stadium, this time against Frankfurt 3:1. If it is any consolation for the fans, their side are doing well in Europa League, where they climbed on second place in the group and they have the chance to move on to the next stage. However Hertha are still nailed to the bottom of Bundesliga with only five points, but it seems that new coach Friedhlem Funkel has finally found the recipe for good play and they will travel to this game boosted by the good results in Europe. That is why coach Funkel opted for an offensive formation with Wischniarek and Raphael up front. In the last five games against Schalke, Hertha scored only one goal while they have gone last four games in Gelsenkirchen without shaking rivals’ net. Having in mind the chaos in the squad from Berlin, we think that might pay off. In each of the seven away games, Hertha conceded at least one goal. It seems that the club made a big mistake in the summer transfer window when they sold Simunic to Hoffenheim, without bringing adequate replacement in the back line. Having in mind that Schalke scored most goals in front of their fans, as well as that Hertha traditionally suit them as rivals, we think thatseems tempting. The Royal blue had a week to prepare for this duel that is very important as they are up against Werder in the next round. Hertha played in Latvia on Thursday, so they will be somewhat tired in Gelsenkirchen, which is why we have no doubts that the hosts will easily take three points.   We will post information about results of this match, as soon as posible.. stay tuned.
