Both teams are entering this round’s clash after losing in the previous, Atalanta to Roma at home and even though they opened the scorings first, they later just stopped. Fiorentina put in a brave display against Inter could’ve even won in the finish, but champions still left them empty-handed. Still, their name amongst all others in the Champions League eight finals pot and that is what truly matters. They will be with enough money to boost the squad over winter and Atalanta duel marks the beginning of the series of duels they expect to get nothing but wins out of. FioDifficult, enduring season and the exhausting Champions League games are slowly beginning to take their toll. It makes it clear why they are so eager to go on a Christmas break, but until then, they will have to play three more games. Marchionni picked up a knock against Inter having joined Mutu on the injury list, and Gamberini is also out of the game. Zanetti is suspended, Jovetic still unfit, but might be on the bench.  It all gives a big splitting headache to coach Prandelli who is reportedly willing to stay in Fiorentina for a while and not even thinking about national coach job. At this moment, Fiorentina are in the upper half of the standings, three points away from the third seat. They will now really have to focus on the domestic league, Champions League is job done for them and this game will be of much bigger importance than the one against Liverpool on Wednesday night at Anfield. Prandelli won’t be resting his players, he is aware Atalanta are the team able to surprise him and the team much stronger than the standings are indicating.It was so evident in their Siena win, that is when their quality really kicked in, but this team is still weaker than last season. They miss Floccari very much, there isn’t that recognizable magic and it is not only sacked Gregucci’sd blame. Advancing years are slowly catching up on Doni, he is not the same player he was last year. We could see it against Roma, we could see also that Atalanta are not that good against big rivals as they used to be, that they are somehow inferior and without a clear idea how to attack when given the opportunity to do so. Of course, Del Neri is also not present and it is very much evident this year will be a lot harder than the last two when they used to grab mid-table finish with ease. Bellini is suspended, Radovanovic and Barretto injured. They are not that important players, last two mentioned especially, and Atalanta’s main problem is exactly the form of their key players. Atalanta won two away games and they seem able to use the disciplined approach to cause some problems to the exhausted hosts. Orobici did have their share of surprises for Viola at this ground, even when it was a much bigger difference in quality between two sides. We see the real problem as the lack of alternatives in the attack, without Jovetic and Mutu, Prandelli pushed Vargas up front thus losing the power in the middle of the park. We will see what Atalanta can do, but we are sure they won’t lose on a big margin whichj is why our suggestion is Atalanta on Asian.
