Interesting duel at Olimpico. Lazio fans and players too forgot what it means to win and it is as if they both lost hope. Namely, the last time Romans won was on the last day of August, they are on 12-game winless run ever since and it is clear why they could even get relegated, the worst scenario possible concerned. Genoa are coming to Rome buoyed by the great performances of a late, most of all by the local derby win. For them, it was the game of the season and it is now clear why the fans are all happy despite some unplanned home failures. Europa League is a huge problem, there is a decisive game against Valencia on Wednesday and they need to win if they want to survive the European winter. Still, Gasperini announced there will be no holding back and resting of his key players  claiming he is coming to Rome to win. They didn’t play well, but they weren’t too weaker than Roma too. They did spend the game defending, but they still had a good chance when Mauri hit the post. Still, the result is what counts and Lazio failed to win at least a point. Everyone thought this was going to be the end of the road for Ballardini, but he survived yet another week. Simply, Lazio have no money to bring a better solution and Lotito hesitates. After the board meeting it was decided that Ballardini should get another chance in the last two games in 2009. Still, it is hard to believe that something spectacular will happen and Ballardini’s main problem is that his team has no quality. It was so obvious against Roma. Ever since they got back to elite, Genoa played four games against Lazio losing both times at their Marassi. However, they won at Olimpico and, if we are to listen to the latest tradition, they play better away. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything, they are entering this game as favorites away or home it doesn’t matter. Olimpico is of no advantage for the Roman clubs lately, fans are disgruntled and there is a huge pressure which Lazio experience week in and week out. Genoa played 2:2 against Parma, it was a good game, Genoa were done harm, chairman Preziosi got into the confrontation with his colleague from Parma and the player Panucchi, it all ended on the verbal level but could’ve been much worse. Gasperini’s side had a fine chance to continue with their fine run, but defense proved once again to be the weaker part of this team. As soon as they lose a player form the starting grid, things fall apart. It was partly due to the attack-oriented tactics, partly because of the weak defense, but Genoa are still the team to concede most in the league. We will go for a draw here, simply it is very important for Lazio not to lose since several easier game are coming up. Genoa will not rush into things too, they did it couple of times before and paid for it, like against Livorno, and we believe they’ve learnt their lesson. We don’t believe her will be too many goals either, it is always like that when these two meet, and Genoa also scores a lot more at Marassi. Go for a draw.
