Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur

Everton recovered well from the Merseyside derby defeat since they clinched their place in the Europa League knockout stages with a win over AEK. The Toffees are, however, sitting dangerously close to the bottom three and they have to try and win this game. Tottenham remained in 3rd place after sharing spoils with Aston Villa but they were then eliminated from the Carling Cup by Manchester United’s second string side. While it was never easy for David Moyes and his side to deal with numerous injuries, that cannot be an excuse for the poor performances this season. However, the Toffees have shown a big improvement in the last two games and their form seems to be on the uptrend. Everton played really well in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool and were unlucky not to get anything from that match, while they also managed to beat AEK away even with several youngsters in the squad. The players will definitely be encouraged by their latest performances and we have no doubts they’ll try to beat Tottenham. The hosts are in much better spirits than Spurs and we therefore see a good value in backing . Dan Gosling and Sylvain Distin are doubtful for this clash after picking up hamstring injury in the AEK game, while Jo should be fit despite picking up a knock on Thursday. Lucas Neill is back after being ineligible for the Europa League, while John Heitinga is suspended. On top of that, Phil Jagielka, Leon Osman, Jack Rodwell, Mikel Arteta, Phil Neville, James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe remain long-term absentees. After the highly polished performance at Villa Park, Tottenham were expected to have an easy job against United’s second string side at Old Trafford and make it to the semi-finals but Spurs played a very poor game and deservedly lost 2:0. Harry Redknapp had fielded a very strong team, while giving players like Bale, Bentley and Hutton a chance to impress but to no avail. Nonetheless, we don’t think Spurs will worry too much about that defeat since they are sitting in 3rd place in the Premiership bit they will rather concentrate on this match. Harry Redknapp’s side have been in very good scoring form lately and maybe you should take the . First team regulars Assou-Ekotto, Huddlestone and Kranjcar will return to the starting line-up, thus Redknapp is set to field the same that started the Aston Villa match. Crouch and Defoe will continue their partnership in attack and need we say the hosts will have problems containing them? Jermain Defoe is currently leading the scoring charts with 11 goals in 12 games and you should know .Everton are boosted by two very good performances and they have to win this game in order to improve the poor league position, while Tottenham are looking to make amends for the United defeat and keep the good league position with three points from Goodison Park. Since we expect a very open game, over 2.5 is the best option here.   Highlights, live score and results will be available soon..
