After the huge town derby win, Genoa were noticeably exhausted against Slavia in Europa League. They played a goalless game in Prague, even had been the weaker side on the turf and the point is more than enough at the end. Even the loss wouldn’t make any big difference. All they need to go through to the next stage is a home win at Marassi in the last round over Valencia. Parma are playing excellent this season, they are the surprise of the league even though they had one of the weakest performances in the league last week. The absence of a couple of regulars is a valid excuse, Napoli outplayed them but ehy still managed to grab hold of a point in the dying moments of the game. they remain top seated although Guidolin still insists on his only aim being survival in the league. They are going to Genoa without pressure and we are yet to see if they can prevail at Marassi.G He is doing his best with combining, but he had a lot of problems with injuries and he is evidently displeased with some of chairman Preziosi’s moves related to transfer policy. It is simple all the players that were brought in just don’t work in his system and he’s got no other choice but to experiment. However, a lot of people think that Grifo will pay the price for playing in Europe in the second part of the season and that they will lose their breath in the crucial moments. Genoa are eager to seal another home win in order to leapfrog Parma and most likely Samp who are to go on a difficult journey to Milan. Long-term absentees, Kharja and Jankovic, are sidelined just as well as suspended Biava and Papasthopulos. It will change things up in the last line which already looked bad in most of the games this season. No wonder they have conceded most goals in the league. Gasperini announced a line-up with Palladino, Sculli and Pallacio, actually without a classic striker such as Floccari or Crespo. Paloschi and Galloppa are coming back in the squad, Mariga is the one missing again, but it is still a lot better squad than last week. Guidolin was known as the conservative type who rarely wins away, but he simply proved everyone wrong last year in Serie B. this season, Parma played several great games outside Tardini having won in Rome and recently in Firenze which gives them reason to hope at Marassi. We have already spoken about Parma being a team carefully molded, full of young and flamboyant strikers combined with a set of experienced defenders. This combination brought result and they shouldn’t have any problems reaching the middle of the standings. However, their fans are asking for more, but everyone in the club is warning them not to get hungrier and to restrain the appetites because the main aim this year is to stay in. We think that over 2.5 goals is the best choice. Firstly, Genoa defense is not so reassuring and we even think Parma will have no problems getting to the rivals’ goal. This might be a chace to score one more, the odds at Ladbrokes are higher than usual. Of course, these teams have met only once in the 21st century, two years ago, when Parma got relegated. It was then 1:0 for the home side, but this year’s Parma are more attack-oriented and very much able to score away. We will post information about results of this match.. stay tuned.
