Wigan need to bounce back from the humiliating defeat at White Hart Lane and this is where boss Roberto Martinez has got to play his part. The Latics face another difficult task against High-flying Sunderland, who enter the match on the back of impressive win over Arsenal.The 9:1 defeat to Tottenham couldn’t have come in the worse time as Wigan were just starting to move away from the dangerous zone. Such a heavy defeat was by no means deserved but the Latics have no choice but to bounce back immediately. Roberto Martinez is a very talented manager and we believe he’ll be able to boost the players’ spirits before this game. His side have been playing attacking football from the very start of the season but we expect them to adopt even more adventurous approach against Sunderland in an attempt to make amends for the aforementioned defeat. It is interesting that the Latics won four of the last five games against Sunderland and maybe you should back .Apart from Maynor Figueroa, the boss has absolutely no selection problems and he could be tempted to field the same line-up that started the Tottenham game. Martinez is aware dropping some of the starters would have a detrimental effect on the team and that is why the players will be given the chance to make amends for the disappointing performance at White Hart Lane. We feel the need to point out that the players have decided to refund the fans who traveled to White Hart Lane and this proves the players themselves are aware of the damage that have been done to the club.Sunderland are sitting in 8th place after the impressive victory over until then high-flying Arsenal and this where the Black Cats wanted to be in the first place. Despite the heavy investment in the playing squad, it was never going to be easy for Steve Bruce to transform Black Cats into a top table team and the boss has to be congratulated for what he has done so far. Sunderland showed on so many occasions they could match even the best teams in the league and they also have big enough squad to cover for all but the worst injury crisis. The Black Cats will be eager to improve on the poor away record that saw them pick up just one point from last five games and we see a good value in backing . Steve Bruce is set to miss his top scorer Darren Bent through a hamstring injury and with Kenwyne Jones serving the last of the three-match suspension, Frazier Campbell looks set to start up front. David Healy and Daryl Murphy are competing for the second place in attack, although the boss could opt to start with Campbell as a lone striker. Craig Gordon and Lee Cattermole remain on the sidelines but Marton Fulop and Jordan Henderson have been doing so well lately, thus the absentees will not be sorely missed. You can imagine how Wigan players feel after the embarrassing defeat to Tottenham and we have no doubts they will fight for their lives in this match. Sunderland players, on the other hand, are brimming with confidence after beating Arsenal, thus everything points out to the fact that we are going to see a very open game with goals galore.
