Is this going to be Marino’s last game on Udinese’s helm? Last year, he wasn’t even given three full months over the autumn, but the club gave him the chance. Cagliari have been playing much better, they had once again went on an off start, but then the excellent run of results projected them all the way to the upper half of the standings. Last week, in an action packed, up-turning game, they played draw with Napoli and a point from this game is a good result. Sardi are calm at the moment, a mere glance on the standings will bring peace in their hearts. Namely, they are with huge ten points of advantage above the relegation rivals.We can’t really explain what happens with this when they step outside of the Friuli. It is beyond common sense that a team with so many good players aboard plays that bad in series. They are under a lot of pressure now, Cagliari game must be nailed, and to add insult to injury, Toto di Natale is suspended. Without him, this team is a lot weaker, it was evident so many times this season. Couple of other players are with injuries too and Marino is in tight spot here. He has been wandering around searching the right formation, he is still trying with his 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 often leaving defense line to strikers’ mercy. And really, if we are to dwell on the disappointing of the season, Udinese might be the biggest one this year. They lost three out of their four away games, however, they got ripped off against Milan and, against Palermo, they lost their tempo in the second half. They are one of few teams to win in Parma and Bari, they are playing very well and after the miserable beginning, they have finally found the right replacement for Acquafresca, the Brazilian Nene. They are going to the holiday break happy, but before it comes there is no doubt they will do everything to punish Udinese. Hosts are slowly becoming really nervous, if they fail to score in the first half, Sardi will know how to use it in their own advantage. In other words, this is a perfect situation for them. Lopes and couple of more players are injured, but they ear not so important for Allegri’s favorite formation. Go for goals, Cagliari will not be merely defending, in case of an early goal we might witness a fireworks display similar to last year when it was 6:2 for Udinese. The odds on over 2.5 are significantly bigger than expected, hosts are not really interested in a point and Cagliari rarely ever finish their games without a winner.
