Everton vs Liverpool

It’s been a while since the rivals entered the Merseyside derby from such low league positions, which practically means that a win would mean the world to either side. Everton are sitting five points behind Liverpool but the pressure is clearly on the Reds, who just keep disappointing their fans.Everton’s poor run of form can no longer be attributed to numerous injuries in the squad since David Moyes was able to field very strong sides in the last few games but the results failed to improve. Moyes is aware his players switch off at times, like they did in the first half of the Hall game and that is something he will be working on in the future. The players need no special motives when they are facing Liverpool, thus we expect them to give everything they’ve got in this match. With both sets of players in such low spirits, they won’t be too confident going forward and we see as too good to pass. The situation with injuries is a bit better than usual with Steven Pienaar coming through the Hull game unscathed and he could keep his place in the starting line-up. However, David Moyes will receive a big boost with both Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and Marouane Fellaini available after suspension and they are both expected to start against Liverpool. Saha is likely to start as a lone striker against the Reds, with Cahill and Fellaini providing support from midfield. Liverpool are sitting in 7th place in the Premiership and they have been knocked out of the Champions League, yet Rafa Benitez is somehow still leading this team. Even though he has used up all the credit the club officials are unwilling to terminate his contract just few months after extending it. However, if the Reds lose the Merseyside derby to injury-plagued Everton they will probably change their minds. We therefore see a great value in backing .  Rafa Benitez is hoping to have Fernando Torres fit for the Merseyside derby since he is one of just two players who can win this game for the Reds. Johnson, Aurelio, Benayoun and Agger have returned into action after recovering from injuries, while Riera and Babel remain injury doubts. Liverpool are already out of the title race but they need to win this game in order to remain in contention for the top 4 place and after all, it’s Benitez’s job on the line. The Reds have somehow managed to win almost all derby games this season but we are not so sure they can do it again. We expect to see a tensed affair just like in every Merseyside derby so far and the winner will be the team that cope with the pressure better than the opponent. Rarely do we see too many goals when these teams meet and we therefore expect to see their sixth successive under 2.5 goals game. We will post results of this match, as soon as posible.
