After the win in Udine, Fiorentina regained their fourth seat and will resume Champions League and Serie A challenges from a very good position. Still, in the last two weeks, bad news kept piling on, busy schedule is taking its toll, injuries are catching up on the players as well, unlike his rivals, Prandelli is with a thin bench and it could be a huge problem for him. Parma arrive to town with no pressure at all, they are one of the biggest surprises of the season, with 20-point tally they are on position number six. They have managed to prove their abilities before the break against the very dangerous Chievo and, unless they lose their breath, it appears to us this team might even end up fighting for Europe at the end. Still, manager Guidolin stubbornly insists they are 20 points away from survival. This could be their chance to book the ticket for next stage since they are very close to going into the Europe’s top 16. It would be a huge success for this young team, namely against Lyon and Bayern last year they seemed unprepared, immature. Still, things are very different now. Some say they used Liverpool’s poor times, still the only reason they lot to the French side was because Gilardino got sent off.  Next Tuesday will be revenge time yet they are to beat Parma first. And that’s the trouble. Montolivo is suspended, Mutu, Gamberini and Santana injured. Also, Jovetic’s injury got worse during the break and he himself doesn’t know when he will be coming back. If you read the Italian papers, then you know he is being mentioned in the starting line-ups but we don’t think Prandelli will risk losing the Montenegrin for a longer period. Leaving him on the bench will leave the team without a striker other than Gilardino and Manager will not be able to go with his 4-3-3, even though Vargas can be pushed up forward. Fiorentina rarely ever drop home points still, before the win over Catania, they have been beaten by Napoli and played draw with Lazio. Had they won even one of those two duels, they would’ve been neck to neck with Juventus on the standings. Midfield ‘rock’ McDonald Mariga is coming back to the pitch, Paloschi is the only one regular missing, but Guidolin has a solution since Bojinov is ready and will be a huge danger for the goal. Parma lost in Milan twice and in Bergamo, they play better at home, but more importantly, this team play without any pressure. This team is a perfect blend of youth and experience which gained a lot playing in Serie B together, they have done a great job this summer, brought couple of great signings and played against teams from Milan quite evenly. We guess they are ready to repeat the similar thing against the decimated Fiorentina. The thing we expect to see from Parma is a great fighting spirit, agility and the attempt to cut off Vargas thus to block all the crosses to Gilardino. We feel they are capable of doing it. The odds on Fiorentina are higher than expected, they had plenty of luck to win in Udine and honestly, we think there is a good chance of a surprise happening in this duel. Draw is somehow the best option, if you want to increase the stakes go with Parma on handicap, but we chose to go on the double chance.
